You can not rename a device in HP SIM. The names are determined from DNS lookups. For the name to be displayed both forward and reverse DNS lookups must be working. You can override the name by putting entries in the windows hosts file which can be found in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc. you will then need to delete and rediscover the devices.

The system type is automatically determined by the SNMP data returned from the device.

To get SIM to recognize the agent trust status run the software polling task which is located at Options --> Status Polling --> Software Status Polling

I've just upgraded to HP SIM from CIM, I've got a few queries......

How do I rename a device in HP SIM?
How do I change the 'System Type' of a device?

MOST IMPORTANTLY.......

On almost EVERY device it now thinks that the agents are not trusted, ( I can't do ANY remote Management). The agent was working fine in CIM 7 configured to 'Trust by name'.....The HP SIM machine is the same server, same name, same IP. Can anyone help, I don't want to go back to CIM 7, but I've got no choice if i have to visit each server again????

HELP??????
