topic SMTP and HPSIM in Server Management - Systems Insight Manager

We're setting up HP SIM 4.1 to send email to our phones. I've tested this and it works fine.
I set up a dummy email account, since the SMTP server allows internal relaying for external messaging. However, in additiont to sending email externally through the SMTP server, it tries to send email to itself internally to a non-existant account. These messages are 1K in size.

Is there a way around this, or must HP SIM 4.1 send email to itself... Acknowledgements? Status messages? What's going on?

11/04/2004 09:21:58 AM Router: [0000000F] Transferring mail to domain email.com (host mailer.email.com [x.x.x.x]) via SMTP
11/04/2004 09:21:58 AM Router: Transferred 1 messages to email.com (host mailer.email.com) via SMTP
11/04/2004 09:22:03 AM Router: Message 004EEA62 transferred to mailer.email.com for hp.sim@email.com from hp.sim@email.com Size: 1K via SMTP

Any help is appreciated.

Dean

I'm no expert on e-mail relaying but it seems as though it is the SMTP Server that is doing the resending. I'd focus on the SMTP Server.

HPSIm will just initiate the SMTP request as required. I don't understand how HPSIM could send messages to itself. It doesn't have an e-mail identity.
