topic Insight Manager menu disappears in Server Management - Systems Insight Manager

Our Insight Manager installation was running quite nicely. We had a simple configuration and did not mess with the server. However, starting a few weeks ago, the menu bar for Tools, Deploy, Configure, etc. disappeared.

I have followed all of HP's recommended troubleshooting, verified I have Java 1.4.2_04, etc and cannot get this back.

Has anyone seen this behavior? Does anyone know the fix? Thanks!

Not sure what you mean by the cannot get this back statement as regards the Java JRE.

You could try clearing the Java Caches, right click the Java Icon, select Open Console and then from the Cache Tab clear the cache.

Another option would be to use add / remove programs to completely remove the JRE.
Obtain the latest from the Sun Java site and install that and try again.
HPSIM works with the later versions of the JRE.

I did perform the clear cache, to no avail. I also tried these:

Solution 1: The current set of Java Plug-in Applet Cache files stored on the client machine might
need to be deleted. From the client Windows machine, select Start->Settings->Control Panel.
Select the Java Plug-in icon off the Control Panel. The Java Plug-in Control Panel should
display. Select the CACHE folder of the Java Plug-in Control Panel. Click Clear. A Clear cache
panel should display, informing you that the Plug-in cache files have been removed. Click OK.

Solution 2: HP Systems Insight Manager only run correctly when using the Java JRE 1.4.2_04
plug-in. If you have a newer version you must delete that version and re-install JRE 1.4.2_04. After
the newer version is removed, you must log into HP Systems Insight Manager and version JRE
1.4.2_04 is automatically on your system.

Solution 3: Go to the Control Panel on the client machine this is seen on, double click the Java
Plugin or 1.4.2_04 Control Panel applet. Select the Advanced tab, and in the Java Runtime
Parameters field enter the following: -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true. Click Apply and close
both the browser and the Control Panel applet. Restart the browser and the problem should not
occur again.

However, after closing and restarting the browser after each step, the Menus do not reappear. I also receive numerous broken-links for different images. I checked permissions on the installation folder and do not see any issues there.

UPDATE:

My apologies- I meant to add the following to my last reply:

Thank you to Rob Buxton for responding to my initial inquiry.

I also tried installing JRE 1.4.2_05, also to no avail.

Thank you.

-E Elrod
