Check from the HPSIM Server it is not seeing multiple VCRM's.
It can if, like me, you had an older Server running CIM 7 & VCRM.

Go to the VCRM from the Options page of HPSIM.

Hi, i want to distribute only firmware updates for the BIOS and Smart Array cards of my servers. My repository already had the latest Proliant Support Pack. I read form another thread, that i had to donwloand the firmwares updates manually, and copy them to the repository directory. I did that. The i executed a rescan and now when i check the server vcm, i can see that i have outdated firmwares, and it shows the new version for the BIOS and Smart Array.

The problem that im having, is when i go to "distribute software and firmware upgrades" i can only choose Proliant Support Pack completely, or any other individual component from the support pack. But i cannot choose to deploy only, lets say, the BIOS firmware update, or the SA, or both.

Anyone knows how can i do this?

Gianni

Select from the Server section of the Install Software and Firmware screen.

You have to carefully select models etc. as it gives all software & firmware available.

Hi,

I recently did this for updating my 6400 controllers. Unfortunatly these needed 2 reboots so you can delpoy this through
deploy drivers, firmware and agents, ms win 2000,server, driver- storage control, Hp proliant smart array 5x...., 5.62.0.32 .the servers then need a reboot. then go back and do the same thing but go to firmware-storage controller-online ROM flash.
Otherwise you can do it through RDU or if you're really stuck you can do it through the VCA on the individual server.

Gary

Hi, thank you both for answering me. I have located the firmware tab, and tried to install the BIOS Update to a DL 360 G2. At the beginning it showed that it was running, but then i got a message that said: Failed. The reason is the following:

"Major: Failed to retrieve software component from repository".

Any ideas?

Gianni

To verify that everything is ok in the VCRM, open the VC Agent page of one of the servers you want to update.

At the left of the Firmware version you will see a small gray round icon. If you click on that icon you will be able to download the support pack to the server. If this fail, then download the ON-line Flash ROM component again.

Also, make sure that there is no setup password in the BIOS of the target server.

Luis
