    <description>We are running Compaq Insight Manager quite successfully, even with recent HP Servers (ML530, even a NAS box B3000)we have been able to install and run the Compaq Agents and successfully monitor the servers. However we have a HP TC2110 server on which the Compaq Agents will not install, the installation just exits without installing the agents. Any ideas ? The only system management tools that come with the server are HP Top Tools but I want to use CIM if at all possible.</description>

      <description>You need to run Top Tools agents on this system.  You should get some information, but not as much as if you were running Insight Manager 7 or HP Systems Insight Manager.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You are now 2 major releases behind or your management platform.  You should really consider upgrading to SIM or at least IM7.</description>

      <description>Compaq Insight Manager, the Win32 application, went end-of-life in July, 2002.  It is not compatible with platforms such as ProLiant BL series and TC series, features that have debuted since that time, and agents 6.4 or later.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;IM7SP2 and later and hpSIM have the ability to talk directly to TopTools agents and are the preferred method for managing legacy systems that came with TopTools.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;IM7 is being transitioned to hpSIM, so at this point you should probably skip IM7 and go directly to hpSIM.</description>

      <description>I have now found that TopTools is not supported on this model, see :&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;A href="http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=tis15263." target="_blank"&gt;http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=tis15263.&lt;/A&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I have also tried to install HP Insight Management Agents on this server without success. Does anyone know for sure what I should install on a TC2110 so that I can monitor it, preferable through a version of Insight Manager (we are currently running COmpaq Insight Manager 5.2 but I realise I will probably have to upgrade.)</description>

      <description>Kirstie:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;When you said that TopTools came with your 2110, I unfortunately assumed your statement to be true (although I had thought that it didn't).  &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;First, the Win32 "Compaq Insight Manager" is exclusively a ProLiant management product.  It is incapable of managing anything else.  One of the things that makes a ProLiant a ProLiant is the existence of the ProLiant Advanced Systems Management Controller.  That is not present on the tc2110 which is why the Insight agents are not installable.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Part of the reason the tc2110 is able to be at the cost that it is is because it is not as richly manageable as a ProLiant.  However, you will be able to get a certain level of management with hpSIM.  Using SNMP it can get basic system status (up/down) and through WMI it can collect configuration data.</description>

      <description>David, thanks for your help. My statement was true - the HP TC2110 DID come with the TopTools CDs which is what is particularly annoying !! Anyway, thanks for clearing that up, the info you've given me is a great help, thanks.</description>
