Do you want to create an email everytime SIM recognizes the (critical) "system list"?

Or do you want, as I do, an email, everytime a critical system is unreachable (e.g. PING)?

I would like an e-mail every time one of the systems in this list is down and SIM creates a critical event.

You cannot base notifications on the System Lists you create.
It has been proposed as something we would like from a number of people within the forum.

I'm waiting to see if HPSIM offers anything new in this area.

The only way I can see this working (at least within SIM 4.1) is to use the LOCATIONS (user configurable), RACK (user configurable, but I am not sure where this is), and/or SYSTEMS NAME (not sure where this is) attribute(s).

I am sure there are a few other ways, but I don't see it yet...

Within SIM go to OPTIONS
AUTOMATIC EVENT HANDLING
New Task

SELECT NAME
"Email 24-7 Critical Alerts"

SELECT EVENTS
where SEVERITY IS CRITICAL

SELECT SYSTEMS
where NETWORK PROTOCOL is IP
<HERE you="" can="" add="" all="" of="" your="" ip="" address="" numbers="" as="" well="">
If you did the change to your LOCATIONS attribute you can change this (as outlined below) to "24-7"

Cluster Membership
Common attributes
Enclosure
Hardware Status
IP address
Managment Protocol
Memory range
Network Protocol
Operating System
Processor
Product name
RACK
Server role
Software firmeare
System Name
System Type
Trust Status
Web Agent

Then I use the time filter between 8: 00 and 5:00 p.m (currently).

Soon, I will add another event that only Emails (pages) during OFF hours for our 24-7 Production servers to alert Admins of IP CONNECTION failures, not just critical events. As some critical events, may not be considered critical by my admins.

To change your LOCATIONS attribute:
WITHIN SIM
Go to ALL SYSTEMS (on left side)

Click on your target (<SERVERNAME>)
Click on LINKS tab
click on "Systems Management Homepage" link
click on Settings TAB
Click on "SNMP configuration" link
Change the "LOCATION" in the SNMP to somethign you would recognize (e.g. 24-7)
</SERVERNAME></HERE>

Weird, I just tried to add the locations and now my LOCATION doesn't show up.

It looks like I will have to add all my server names (at least it's a drop-down menu).

This is done in Events - manage events -
SELECT SYSTEMS where SYSTEMS NAME IS <SERVERNAME>.

Good luck.</SERVERNAME>
