For SIM to detect that your servers are part of a cluster the Insight Agents must be installed on each cluster server and the "clustering information" agent must be active. Then if you discover the servers and the cluster IP resource SIM should detect the cluster and form the association between the servers and the cluster. It will then display entries like (servername) in cluster (clustername)

Can compaq Clusters be seen by SIM 4.1?

If so, how are they seen? As Servers? Or as Unknowns?

Thanks.

I can only see my clusters as individual nodes Unknowns) as as a cluster name as Unknown.

I have not installed ALL the Insight Manager agents yet, it's in production.

Just wondering.

Yes, HPSIM can see Clusters. It sees my OpenVMS Cluster. There may be some additional steps you need to perform. There is for OpenVMS, I cannot speak about other "Compaq" Clusters.
There's probably a white papaer on the HPSIM Home page.

Thanks for the replies.

"Clustering information" agent?

I guess I better search for that, is it a driver/support pack?

When you install the insight agent then on that server you can go to the control panel --> HP management agents. Under the services tab is listed the active and inactive agents. you want to move the clustering information to the active agents column and then restart the agent if you had to make a change.
