topic alerts not working in Server Management - Systems Insight Manager

I have just decommisioned our old Insight server, and re installed it using a full SQL server database this time, instead of MSDE.

BUT i cannot get the alerts working on the server.

Any ideas.

All the agents on the target servers will be fine (i should think) as it all worked on the old Insight server.

The only thing different is the fact that its now a windows 2003 server, as well a SQL 2000 database.

Any ideas would be great

PS Outlook 2000 is installed on there, so it has a MAPI and SMTP client.

Narrow down the problem.
Are Alerts appearing on the HPSIM Server?
Test by using the HP Management Agent GUI (from Control Panel) on a Remote Server to send a Trap. This should generate a Major Alert.

Your Notification set up should then fire off an e-mail. Check the status of the Notification Task.
Check the SNMP Settings on the HPSIM Server to ensure it is set for Allow SNMP From All Hosts and that the Community Names are correct.

We had the same issue at work. we wound up having to setup the fleet to send traps to the SIM server in order for notifiactions to work. If you find a better way...please let me know
