Using SIM 4.1 SP1 . Connecting to a HP server running IM Agent 7.10.0.0.
I can connect and view system data using Compaq Survey Utility and Verson Control Agent but when I attempt to connect to the machine via the Link IM Agent I get the prompt for User "Administrator" and sign on and it seems to connect but never returns any system information.
Any reason for this. Have been to the downlaod site and it seems I have the latest agent loaded on the server.
Being challenged for a password indicates three's no trust relationship between the SIM Server and remote Agent.

To eliminate HPSIM, browse directly to the Server, e.g. https://Server:2381
Do you get the same response?

Try restrating SNMP and all the dependent Services (unless you have a non-HP Service that relies on SNMP) and retry the above.
Is the box responding to other requests?
I get a response back from "Compaq Survey Utility" and "Version Control Agent" each tim easked for a password of which I seem is normal and no problem with. I even get prompted for a password with the IM Agent and just connects to the server but doesnt return a blank screen with no information on the machine.
I have re-started SNMP and the Insight Web Agent which also re-starts all relevent serveices used by IM.
When select Insight Management Agent from the Links Tab the browser signes intot the server but just seems to get stuck on htpps://server:2381/webagent/nevframe.tpf and only reports to the screen the IM Logon in top left of browser screen plus "Condition Legend" but with no information on that server.

In the SNMP service config / 'Security' tab, try either selecting 'Accept SNMP packets from any host' or adding 127.0.0.1 to you SIM server entry. I found that if I specify a host, my SIM server, I also needed to add localhost - at least for some windows versions.

John

Hi John,

No luck on that. The "...from any server" was selected. Tried the 127.0.0.1 and localhost option, but no luck.
Yesterday I uninstalled the HP management agents and reinstalled them, no solution either.

Leon
