Changing System Type

We have a mixture of Production and Test systems. I would like to change the Test systems to unmanaged. How would I do this?

Click on the name of the device you wish to change to go to the System Page for that device. Click on the Links tab, then Edit System Properties. Change the System Type to Unmanaged and click OK.

I do not believe this feature existed prior to version 4.2 (but I could be wrong so check, don't just take my word), so if you are on an earlier version you will need to delete and re-add the devices.

You are right. We are on 4.1 and this feature does not exist. Unfortunately, deleting and readding, even though I call it unmanaged does not hold and reverts back to server. THanks for your help.

set the SNMP read string on global protocol settings to an invalid community string and all the community string on the devices that you want to be detected as a normal device to the correct setting. This may be a very long process if you have a lot of systems.
