Hi David,

You should have a env. var. called JAVA_HOME (windows not casesensitive) which has the value of the install path and this should also be included in you PATH env. var.

In your case you should have something as:

JAVA_HOME=C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_06
PATH=.....;C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_06;.....

Try from a cmd prompt to execute java -version. This should give the following output:

C:\Documents and Settings\hpdev>java -version
java version "1.4.2_06"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_06-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_06-b03, mixed mode)

If this returns an error or returns a version different from 1.4.2_06 something is wrong with your env. vars or installation.

If this works and still the error remains then it seems that the Insigth Manager looks at a wrong location.

HTH

Best regards

Sam

When launching HP Insight Manager from the server or workstation I get the following message:
You do not have a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installed. HP Systems Insight Manager requires JRE
1.4.1 or later to be installed. You will not be able to log in until a JRE is installed.

Click "Install JRE" to allow Systems Insight Manager to install the JRE.
When prompted on file download, select "Open" instead of "Save". If prompted for the
program to open the file with, choose "explorer.exe" from your Windows® directory.

I've followed the instructions, but am unable to get past this page

Hi David,

Try to download the JRE directly from the SUN website (URL below).

http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html

Choose the JRE.

At the moment, version 1.4.2_06 is available there. Older version can be found in the archive.

Install it and ensure your JAVA_HOME env. var. is set and that the java location is in your PATH.

Then Insight Manager should work.

HTH

Best regards

Sam
