Hi,

When installing HP SIM 4.2, System Management Homepage 2.0 is also installed on the HP SIM server. But how can I install SMH 2.0 on other machines without installing HP SIM? Is it even the intention to use SMH 2.0 on other systems than HP SIM servers? If so, where do get it (the HP SIM installer installs it, but also HP SIM)? In chapter 13 of the Installation Guide of HP SIM 4.2 I've read something about ProLiant Support Pack (PSP) 7.20, but I can't find it on the support pages of HP!

Help would be very appreciated :-)
Thanks!

Pedro
Hi,

It is possible to use the HP SIM installer and choose the custom install procedure. SMH 2.0 and HP SIM are selected by default, but if I continue, I could finish the SMH installation and cancel the HP SIM installation. Is this a good solution or is it better to wait for the Insight Management Agents 7.20?

Thanks
Pedro
Pedro,
You do not have to install SIM 4.2 to install the SMH 2.0.

You can install the SMH 2.0 by running the file <DRIVE>\SysMgmt\hpsetupc.exe that can be obtained from the 7.20 Management CD. The ability to deploy this via the Version Control Repository Manager and Version Control Agent won't be available until SMH 2.0 is released as part of next PSP. The SMH 2.0 will in component form as part of the next PSP's (7.20) scheduled for release in the middle of 1Q05 (sometime in February).

Regards,
Michael Garner
HP PSP Development Team Lead</DRIVE>

Hi,

An extra solution I had found was to extract the HP SIM 4.2 executable installer and run \SysMgmt\hpsetupc.exe . That worked fine.

I wasn't aware of the fact that SMH 2.0 was available on the 7.20 Management CD. Thanks for the information!! I will use hpsetupc.exe from that CD in the near future for SMH 2.0.

Greets,
Pedro
For clarity, at this time most people will have gotten HP SIM by downloading the application rather than the 7.20 Management CD ISO image. If that is the case, open and unzip the 'sysmgmt' directory from the package to find hpsetupc.exe to install SMH 2.0.
