Is SNMP configured and running on these Servers?
Is there a Read Only Community name that allows access to the HPSIM Server. Note community names are case-sensitive.
Also on W2003 Servers SNMP by default allows "Selected Hosts only" you need at least Local Host plus the HPSIM Host as allowed, or just select the W2000 default of "Allow All Hosts".
I am a new user of HP Systems Insight Manager (version 4.2 C.04.02.00.00) and some of my new HP Proliant servers are showing up in the management console as Unknow system types. In addition, the product name and OS name are blank.

All of the servers will build with the smart start CD's. When I open the Control Panel, I see the icon for the Hp Management Agents. Two of the machines are DL350 G3's, two are DL360's, and the last machine is a NAS2000. Whay are these showing up as unknown.

Where can I find these SNMP settings? All of the servers have Snmp enabled (I looked in the Services MMC).

If you go into the services on your Server/workstation you should find a SNMP service. You can change all of the settings from there or you can go into the Management console and set the settings there.
