Arghhh! I just blew my program out of the water, so thought it would be a good time to upgrade to the most recent version. But alas, it's not accepting my admin password during the install! Says it's invalid?? What's up with that?
Running on a W2K sp4 server, trying to install version 4.2 that I got from the download site. Completely uninstalled the previous version after running into problems
during the installation. Still it won't accept my domain administrator user/password!
Help!!!!!!!
Thanks,
Kelly

Joel,
I'm trying to install the HPSIM. Never ran into this problem b/4. I am using the domain admin account to do the install. The account is not locked and the password has not changed.
Thanks,
Kelly

So you are doing a typical install and you are at the account authentication and database selection screen when you get this error?

Is the database local or remote?

Joel,
Exactly. I'm at the authentication screen, where it asks me for the password. The database is local.
K

Next question is the database SQL or MSDE? If MSDE did you install it during the SIM 4.2 install?

It's a sql db. Same one that was present when I blew up the other version! I did however Detach the sim db's before I started this install. Do you think that could be causing this? Is it looking to the sql db to verify my login/password??

It is definitely looking for a previous installation of SIM. Does it give you the option to change the username? If not then there are still some pieces of your old SIM installation left around that is possibly confusing the installer.

Joel,
No the user name/domain areas are greyed out, cannot be changed. Guess I better start removing anything and everything that has to do with the previous version and really start from scratch?
K

Good news! I finally got it loaded. Had to choose a Custom install and uncheck the Performance Management Pack and one other item which I can't recall it's title.
The installation then took place without any problems.
Doing a discovery right now.
What a great way to the end the week. Thanks for all the help Joel,
Kelly
