Hello,

I am trying to get Insight to send email or call cell phones on critical or major alerts.
When I try to setup a new task it will not allow me to go pass the system events part of the setup. I click next and nothing happens.
Any Ideas?

You might check your permissions for the database on your SQL or MSDE server. I had trouble with the events and had to create a new database.

Have you tried different browsers? I use Firefox with a lot of success, but I do prefer IE for the viewing of the IM pages because it allows the Java pages to file the screen on high resolutions.

Please keep in mind that the only client-side Java that requires the JRE in HP SIM are the "live" tables. Everything else is JavaScript (which is interpreted by the browser and doesn't require the JRE).

Last thing to try would be to add your HP SIM server to the "trusted sites" list in IE (assuming that you have trusted sites set to Low) to confirm that it isn't anything to do with browser settings.

Other than that, it isn't operator error or a configuration problem. You have a real situation that needs to be escalated through customer services.

Yes, please post the error screenshots.

Call 1-800-hp-invent and during the intro or when you are invited to, say the words "insight manager." They'll attempt to replicate the problem and will advise on next steps. If they are unable to replicate, ask them to escalate it.

When you get a case number, send it along to me at firstname dot lastname at hp dot com and I'll monitor their progress.
