What versions of HPSIM, PMP etc?
Check the SNMP Settings, I found with PMP 3.1 it needed the public community name even thogh HPSIM was configured correctly to use other community strings.
I've still not resolved why that is.

PMP Licensing issues

Hi,

I originally had a set of servers that i licensed for PMP in SIM.

One of the servers, i wiped out and reinstalled the OS etc...

Prior to reloading hte software but after I wiped out the server, I went into the licensing menu for PMP and it showed that 1 server which was licensed was unreachable.

So after i reloaded my server, i even had the server name changed to the way it was before.

Normally PMP should redetect this servers and notice that it was licensed. I'm not sure if PMP licensing looks for the server serial # or the same name but normally PMP should recognize it is licensed.

But it doesn't and keeps saying that there is 1 unreachable licensed server even though i have the server up and running again.

I even try re licensing the server by wasting an available PMP key but still no luck. The PMP icon in the all systems list shows a question mark beside the server and when i click on it it says that it is not licensed. Does anyhone know a way around this issue or atleast to have my server get recongized again?

Also in the licensing page for PMP i try refreshing the list of "all devices" but the server still doens't show.

I am using HP SIM 4.2 with PMP 3.1

I'm really not sure as to whats wrong. I think my SNMP agents are set properly.

this is just a test lab so i did leave the Read Create string at private.

I also set a Read Write string of private2.

These SNMP settings are for set in all my servers and the other servers are running fine except this one.

That's what threw me though, I had a perfectly useable Read/Write community name and Read Only community name, but it needed the public community name as well.
