I am having the same problem.

Also, SIM no longer pulls Processor information - this used to work with 7.2 (at least I think it did).

Netware and SIM - Novell Server Agents not functioning?

We're upgrading from CIM 5.20 to SIM 4.1. All of the servers have been successfully discovered, and the public/private SNMP strings are entered correctly. I have run an identification task on all the servers since discovery. I believe our servers all have the latest agents, we kept them up to date even though we still had an old version of CIM.

With our Windows servers, when you view the System Page, there is a link under "Hardware Status" that you can click to view detailed status about the server.

With our Novell servers, when you view the System Page, there is no such link. SIM discovered the servers successfully, it found the name/model/OS/etc of the server. It alerts when the server is unreachable. It even shows if there's something wrong with the server under "Hardware Status", but there's just no link to go into more detail.

I hope that makes sense. The line reads "from management agent" instead of "from Insight Management Agents".

In CIM 5.20, when I double click a server I get a detailed view where I can drill-down and determine the problem. I assume this "System Page" is where I find that same function in SIM.

HELP! What step am I missing? I've read other threads that mention trust relationships, but I am uncertain how I would go about that with a Novell server. Also, I don't remember having to do then when setting up CIM 5.20.

Thanks in advance!

I think I solved the problem.

I had originally auto-discovered all servers by giving SIM an IP range to ping.

The Novell servers got pulled in via IPX, and the Windows servers by IP. I removed them all and added the Novell servers via specifying an IP, and it pulled them in. Now the Insight Management Agents is a link.

Thanks!

I'm having the same problem with my Netware servers and was curious to know if adding server in with IP address really fixed your problem? I tried that I still don't get Management agent as a link. It shows up under hardware status but does not allow me to click on it.

Why? This wasn't a problem in Insight Manager 7. Why can't HP pass the proper credentials to their own WBEM page? The support for NetWare in this new release is weak.

It's true that adding the Netware servers via their IP Address made the Insight Agent link active.

However, there is still the hassle of not passing the credentials along correctly. I'm still trying to figure out how to make that work. It works great with the Windows Servers.
