Hi,
I downloaded the latest firmware and performed the update on the VLS.
Now when I try to access the GUI (IP address in the browser) I get nothing.

any ideas why this is.

PS:
Currently downloading the v1.1.0 Quick Restore CD image just in case.
If the IP of the VLS is 10.x.y.z then the GUI should be available with the IP address in a web browser?

Trying to connect via serial cable.
I haven't done this in quite a while so could somebody say if this is right:
Use a null modem serial cable (with both ends the same type, i e both male).
Using hyperterminal (because i dont have Reflection) to connect to the server.
I think I have to set my IP address now but im not sure.
What am i missing?
Could I use a serial cable with one end serial type and the other an RJ-45?

thanks
in the CD you received with the VLS there should be an Utility that allow to discover the vls on the net and to assign an ip address.

If this is not working, you can attach a monitor and keyboard on the node, and check what happens at boot up. then you can log in and issue CLI commands

Thanks Marino,

Any idea where I can download the "VLS Documentation CD"?

I think it would solve the problem - which is an install from scratch.

Hi Brian,

The CD should have been delivered with the kit but here's a link to the 6000 VLS user guide anyway. You'll find a section for installation and there's also a User Interfaces section that goes through using a null-modem cable to connect.

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00577484/c00577484.pdf

Cheers,

Peter
