Hi,

We are looking at purchasing a c7000 with Proliant BL280c blades for one of our customers, but having never purchased such a system before, we are trying to understand which modules would provide the right network options.

Concerning the network module, we're currently looking at 2 HP pass-through modules in bay 1&2 to provide full gige connectivity to all blades.
What we would like to understand is whether there is a way to have SFP modules on the pass-through and if so which module should be purchased?
If not, what would the recommendation be for a network module and what would that imply in terms of per blade connectivity.

Thank you for your help,
Matthieu

The pass-thru module has 16 RJ45 copper ports. Just like a patch panel. So no SFPs.

or you could have the Gbe2c Layer2/3 switch. Which is a 24 port switch - 16 ports internaly to the blades and 8 ports externally
Default it comes with 5x RJ45 ports.
But you can plug in 3 extra SX SFPs and one to replace one of the RJ45 to get 4xRJ45 and 4xSX from each switch.
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/blades/components/ethernet/gbe2c_layer2-3/benefits.html
