With Smart Link enable, it automatically drops link to the server ports if all uplink ports lose link including downlink ports.

I never enable it and it works just fine.

Hi all,

Is it necessary to enable Smart Link?

I have already teamed my NICs with TLB+NFT and I notice with Smart Link enabled, my NICs will be disabled.

There are blade servers are communicating internally. So with Smart Link, it will also cut off my internal links.

Hi,

In which situation/scenario should I use SmartLink?

If you were NOT using the internal Cross connect, you would want to use Smartlink so that traffic would be forced out the good interconnect when the uplinks on the bad one failed.

With the internal cross connect enables, the traffic should just flow over the cross connect and then up any working uplinks.

agreed with Dan.

disabling all ports (smart link) will force data trought other connection you made, either internal or external.

Hi,

Thx for the explanation.

If I have a Domain Controller in an enclosure and the rest of the 15 blades are connected to the DC, I should not enable smart link right? If not I will loose all connection to the DC.
