All of my servers have the integrated nc532i card and bays 1/2 have VC Flex-10. I'm curious about the other Mez cards and interconnect bays.

I'm wondering if it's OK to put 3G SAS Switches and p700m in Mez card #1 of 4 servers. In other servers though I want Mez 1 to be used for the PCI Riser that goes to the SB40C next door or one of the Fusion IO accelerator cards. Is it OK to have Mez cards like these in the server that don't really care to talk to the interconnect in the corresponding bays?

Hi Jonathan,

the PCIe pass-thu mezzanine card is only required for full height blades and needs to be in mezz slot 3. For HH blades this card is not needed to connect to a SB40C storage blade.

As far as i know the SSD cards are ok to be used the way you explained as they have no connection going to the backplane/interconnects.

HTH

Kris
