    <description>&lt;P&gt;Dear Team,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I need to replace a failed switch but I am not fully clear about how to save the current switch configuration to be recovered on the new one?       <description>&lt;P&gt;Okay folks, here it goes the basics:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;OL&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Setup a TFTP server where to save your switch configuration. Talk to your comm people.&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Log into the current switch either using the DB9 (RS232) port or via a web browser (http)&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Navigate the menus and save the config using the '&lt;FONT face="courier new,courier"&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;ptcf&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;g&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt; &amp;lt;host name or IP address of FTP/TFTP server&amp;gt; &amp;lt;filename on &lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;host&amp;gt;&lt;/STRONG&gt;' command.&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Physically replace the switch following the proper procedure.&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Once replaced recover the configuration using the '&lt;FONT face="courier new,courier"&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;gtcfg &amp;lt;host name or IP address of FTP/TFTP server&amp;gt; &amp;lt;filename on host&amp;gt;&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/FONT&gt;' command&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Make sure the newly installed switch will keep the loaded config after a reboot or power cycle by entering the 'save' command.&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/OL&gt;&lt;P&gt;Details at: &lt;A href="http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00701969/c00701969.pdf" target="_blank"&gt;http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00701969/c00701969.pdf&lt;/A&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
