It is probably because you have 2 CPus on the bl460c and they have mixed stepping :)

you can do one of these things:

1. update the bl460c firmware by using the online flash utility
2. uninstall temporary one of the CPUs and install the package
or 3 - try crosschanging the CPUs :)

Regards,

If bios is updated, if ilo is 1.43 and if OA is 2.10 I really don't have idea why it doesn't work. Maybe you can open a case @ hp :)?

The errors you report point towards a bad CD or ISO image. Can you validate the ISO image against the MD5 checksum provided on the HP website? Also, if you can provide how you are executing the Firmware Deployment Tool (ie through iLO remote console, via c3000 built-in DVD drive, or via USB CD drive), this could help debug the problem.

If you validate the ISO image against the MD5 checksum and everything checks out, you can put the CD in debug mode by doing the following:

- When you hear the beeps indicating the server is about to boot the OS, you will get a prompt for a couple of seconds. When you get the prompt (may be just a blinking cursor), type the word "debug" and hit Enter. You should now see boot information on the console. When the error occurs, copy the last several lines from the console and post them to this forum post so we can try to determine the cause of the failure.

Thanks,
Michael Garner
BladeSystem FDT and HPSUM Architect

tools works fine on some enclosures (OA mounted USB DVD to all bays), and sometimes it does not work in same scenario in other enclosure. and sometimes it leaves 2-3 blades without update, maybe booting 16 blades on same media is not so stable option yet.

Michael, thanks for answer.

1) MD5 checksum is OK.

2) I tried using ILO virtual media and using DVD drive connected to OA on C7000.
I tried on BL460 with dual quad-core CPU and single quad-core CPU with 4 Gb/8 Gb RAM
and on BL480 with dual quad-core and 8Gb/24 Gb RAM
Same result.

3) Attached printsreen before server restart

4) Where I can find specific list of firmware included with this Firmware Deployment Tool Version 1.00 ?
(Like cdcontent-fw.htm in firmware maintenance CD)

5) I didn't find any manual for Firmware Deployment Tool as well.

6) Can you describe more specific where I need to type "debug" ? Before or after "boot" prompt of ISOLinux ?
I tried to write "debug" without any success...

Thanks, Igor
