topic Multiple Interconnect types in single C7000 chassis in BladeSystem - General

Hello,

We currently have a C7000 chassis with some 460 G1 blades using 16 port 1 gb passthrough interconnect module. What I would like to do is install a 10GB flex or a cisco fex fabric interconnect into the chassis and install some G7 or G8 blades.

In this way, I would like to have the G1 servers use the 1gb passthough and the G7 or G8 servers use the 10 GB modules.

Is this configuration possible? Can I have 1GB passthrough modules installed in the same chassis as cisco fex or VC FLex fabric interconnects?

Thank you for your time.

Yes, you can mix the 10GB flex with 1GB as long as the nic cards on the mezzanine of the bladeservers are properly represented, meaning "on the right (mezzanine) place monunted with the interconnect modules."

NOTE:

A RED light on the front panel stays on and the server will not boot., indicating the card was on the wrong mezzanine.

Please see attachment of the c7000 layout.

Good luck!
