topic Using service port to access the iLO's? in BladeSystem - General

That port's for linking enclosures so you can manage up to 4 enclosures as one, not for OA management/iLO access. Hope this helps. Phil.

Hello, Connected to the service port on the Management sleeve it is possible to access the OA using the Service IP address. Is it also possible to access the iLO's of the Blades using this service bus? (In case of a broken OA?). Are there any other reasons why to use this bus? Lodewijk

In the last connected chassis, you can connect a laptop to connect to the service address of the OAs. With the current OAs, depending on the laptop model, 100M is the max connected speed. With my Lenovo T60, I have had limited success in connecting to this service port. You can use this to configure OA prior to connecting into your production network, rather than the LCD panel to enter static IP addresses. Neal

Would suggest you to connect to individual modules using the service port/uplink port and set a common password for all the OA modules in all the enclosures - Then connect your daisy chain to link all the enclosures in your rank and you can manage assign IPs before you connect the OA modules to your network. You can't use a service port to access iLo's Please try this if you are trying to access iLo's before connecting to your OA modules to the network. - Connect to Service port and assign EBIPA to your bays by giving subnet mask 255.255.0.0 and gateway IP as your laptop ( 169.254.0.x - where x is different from your service port IP) assign 169.254.0.A to 169.254.0.Z ( IPs A through Z should not be the service port IP) assing OA1 IP as 169.254.0.X ( Where X should not be the service port IP) Once you assing this - Connect your laptop directly to Active OA port and start accessing both the enclosure as well as blades - This saves us lot of time to do pre-configuration work Remember not to change the IPs back to your production before logging out from the OA Hope this is clear - Thanks
