I have been instructed to get an old ProLiant BL480c G1 upgraded with more memory. Right now it has 4 GB and ideally I'd like for it to have 32 or even 64. Where should I look on HPs site for pricing and availability of memory modules, or who should I contact?

Thank you in advance.

P.S.This thread has been moved from Servers > ProLiant > ProLiant Servers (ML,DL,SL) to HP BladeSystem Server Blades. -HP Forum Moderator

RAM must be installed in pairs. 32GB would be 4x8GB or 8x4GB; 64GB would be 8x8GB. 64GB in 8x8GB is the largest configuration supported by the server.

Per the quickspecs:
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/productbulletin.html#spectype=worldwide&type=html&docid=12513

2 x 4GB kit is part # 397415-B21
2 x 8GB kit is part # 413015-B21
8 x 8GB kit (to max out) is part # 495604-B21 (and is exactly equivalent to buying 4 x 413015-B21)

These kits are outdated and lately aren't going to be available retail from HP or the reseller channel, but you can request compatible products based on these part numbers from mainstream memory providers.

Examples:
http://www.axiommemory.com/config/products/branded/413015-B21-AX.aspx

http://www.kingston.com/us/memory/search/?partid=kth-xw667/16g

These older standard 2x8GB FB-DIMM kits are pretty pricey though, you may want to compare the cost with simply replacing the server, as 8GB DDR3 RAM for current generation servers is a fraction of the price.
