Hi!! There is one server BL680c G5 server. In this server if the cache module is not placed in the board, the server doesn't get boot. It gives the message "controller self test failed". Is there any option through which we can disable the cache so that if there is no cache still the server can boot. Thnks in advance...

Some RAID levels need a cache module to work, the controller cannot present LUNs without the cache module.

What exact message do you get during POST?

hi thanks for the reply... There is not any major issue..I just wanted to know for my knowledge whether it is possible in this server or not to boot without cache module...

hi,

This server has a P400 controller and the P400 controller can not work w/o cache. It's not possible to disable it.
