Simple VCM Stacking Link Configuration Question

I have what I think is a simple VMC stacking link question:

We have three c7000 enclosures.

Currently, we have our Enclosure1 stacked with Enclosure2 as follows:
ENC1/BAY1/X6 to ENC2/BAY1/X6
ENC1/BAY2/X6 to ENC2/BAY2/X6

All is well.

I am ready to join Enclosure3 to the VC Domain.

It has been suggested that I wire the stacking links as follows:

ENC1/BAY1/X6 to ENC2/BAY1/X6
ENC2/BAY2/X6 to ENC3/BAY2/X6
ENC3/BAY1/X6 to ENC1/BAY2/X6

Two questions:
1. Is this configuration acceptable?
2. When I remove the link from ENC1/BAY2/X6 to ENC2/BAY2/X6, will that have any adverse effects?

[Attached is a simple diagram of how it was suggested I do this]

Your diagram looks right. You dont say what VC version, but for this, its basically all the same anyways. Here is a document for 4.20 you can reference for more info.

Start at page 28 for stacking info.

You can connect all of the stacking links first and then remove the redundant one. If you cant for some reason, then you will get an alert, but if its during a quiet I/O time, you will be fine for the short time it takes for the other link to become active.

I am at VC firmware 4.5 on all six VCMs and all six OA's for that matter.

While I did not see my exact scenario on the referrenced document, it is a nice document to have as it explains a great deal on how things work.

I will proceed as planned.
