How to see the MAC table in Virtual Connect.

A question from David:

We have a customer asking:

“We are actually looking for the MAC forwarding table, something that we usually look at in a switch…. Not sure if we can see this detail in the VC.”

We have told the customer that VC is a layer 2 device, but not technically a switch. He stills wants to know ‘how’ to look at the MAC forward table.

Is there a way in VC?

Yes, from the VC CLI :

- Show interconnect-mac-table enc0:bay1

As output, show you the mac table of the VC module in bay1 of the enclosure 0.

correct format should be enc0:1.

you can also filter by MAC address. "d1" means downlink port 1 on this VC module, which goes to server in bay 1. For more info on how to use this command to troubleshooting, please see my VC CLI network management deck off my blog. it's pure CLI stuff.

->show interconnect-mac-table enc0:1 "mac address"=12:12:12:12:12:13
