Hi,

I'm wondering about the failover in case of stacked config.

Let's define the environment : two c7000, each with 2 flex10 modules in bay 1 and 2, are stacked with 10Gbe Fiber.

According to docs, the VCM run on mod bay 1 in the first enclosure, and it's backup is running in b2 of same c7000.

What will arrive if that enclosure is failed (like in disaster situation, let's imagine the second c7000 is 100m away and not impatcted by the disaster). ? I will loosed active and backup vcm instances. Is there a way to restart a vcm on a module in the second c7000 ?

Thanks for help

If you lose BASE enclosure where primary and secondary VC module reside, your 2nd enclosure VC modules will still be able to forward the traffic for its local enclosure but you won't be able to access it. You need to bring back primary enclosure to gain mgmt access

VC 3.51 User Guide:

http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c03128009/c03128009.pdf

When both Primary and Standby modules in the base enclosure are taken down for maintenance or
lose power and are no longer present in the domain, you will experience a loss of the management
capabilities in the VC domain. If network and fabric uplinks were defined on the remaining enclosures,
the servers continue to have network and storage access. Both the Primary and Standby modules in the
base enclosure must be recovered to regain management access to the VC domain.

sorry, i'm not sure if I understand your question. could you elaborate a little more?

one way for restore is to use restore domain configuration option provided by VC manager.
