Bonjour,

Just wanted to confirm with the community that, with Flex10 AND FlexFabric, it is possible to perform the following tasks while the server blade is powered on.

From the managing server profiles screen, we can perform the following tasks:

• Create a server profile

[(Steve McLean)] yes, you can create a profile with everything running, except the server receiving the profile, it must be off.

• Delete one or more server profiles

[(Steve McLean)] yes, you can delete profiles, but the server they are assigned to must be off, or they must be unassigned

• Edit a server profile

[(Steve McLean)] Yes, change name, LAN and SAN connections and link speed.

• Assign a server profile

[(Steve McLean)] NO the server receiving the profile must be off

• Unassign a server profile

[(Steve McLean)] the server must be off

• Copy a server profile to a bay

[(Steve McLean)] copying a profile is fine, the source can be on, but the target server bay must be off to assign the profile

• Move a server profile

[(Steve McLean)] both source and target servers must be off

• View network and Fibre Channel information for a server profile

• Perform a VC Server Profile Failover operation

[(Steve McLean)] both source and target must be off

• Export a server profile to a different VC Domain Group

However, do I understand that the changes are effectively dynamically applied to the server blades without any reboot or does the blade has to be cycled through for the changes to be recognized ?

[(Steve McLean)] Yes can do the following without powering the server off. Yes, change name, LAN and SAN connections and link speed.
