topic Enclosure stacking Question for Virtual Connect in BladeSystem - General

Rui was looking for info on the Virtual Connect stacking links:

*******************************************************************

When stacking two enclosures do we lose bandwidth or any capacity (like full duplex communication) between two servers in different enclosures?

I have a customer trying to certificate a solution with a third party vendor and the vendor is asking for the protocol used for stacking and is stating that we lose bandwidth in this communication.

Do we have any document that explains this?

*********************************************************************

Dave provided some info:

*********************************************************************

When we stack enclosures together we have the option of connecting the enclosures with 10gb CX4 / fibre cable or 1gb twisted pair cables through an RJ45 connector. These are normal Ethernet connections and would be limited by the type of cable/connection we make.

I do not know the specific data behind the connections, but should be about the same as any network connection.

*********************************************************************

Other comments or info for Rui. Looks like some FUD being tossed at the customer regarding stacking link communication protocol.
