The "dog slow" issue has been addressed in the 1.20 and greater firmware (latest firmware is 1.21). Thanks, Dave

We have the HP SAN Switch 2/16 sku - AA978A Does this switch have NPIV support? Is there a way to validate NPIV compatibility on this switch?

Supported switches can be found in the VC Release Notes - here is a link to the latest 1.21 Release notes - http://bizsupport.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01232325/c01232325.pdf Yes, the HP SAN Switch 2/16 will support NPIV and VC so long as you upgrade the FOS to a supported revision (see the release note for supported FOS versions.) Also, be sure to consult the BladeSystem Compatibility Matrix under the Virtual Connect section to ensure that all of your other components are a supported version (i.e., OA, iLO, VC, NICs, HBAs.) The matrix is located at www.hp.com/go/bladesystemupdates Thanks, Dave

Howdy, Another good and easy way to see if NPIV is working on this switch(port) is just hookup a FC cable to the FC-SAN module and then if the LINK led on the FC port (rightbottom) is blinking at 1 Hz then NPIV is not enabled on that switch(port). Just a good practical guidance! Cheers, jeroen

We also found a fun little issue with non NPIV switches.. if you're connected to one, the VCM GUI will be dog slow until you disconnect the fibre!
