bl45p will not boot

Hi everyone, my bl45p will not boot. the health led is on red, i have taken out all the ram except for banks 1-4. The system is configured with 4 opteron 875's. the server came as working for our companies other location but it will not turn on. If i turn it on in ilo it boots for one second and thats it. Any ideas?

ok i might have narrowed it down, under intergrated management log it says

i have a 1RU power enclosure with 6 power supplies running fine???? what is going on?

I've had a LOT of trouble with the power converter on P-Class blades. At one stage one was blowing once a week.

It seems every time i have to remove a few blades one of them blow's. I suggest you have this part replaced and see how you go.

thanks, i will look into the power converter(is that in the enclosure or the blade itself?) the transportation shouldn't be a problem cause i moved it myself... all the other blades( bl35p & bl20p) work fine in the enclosure.... any other ideas?

Jon,

The power convertor is on the blade itself, right at the back of the blade. It has a small heatsink on it.

Hi, thanks. Ok what i have done is upgrade the firmware on the enclosure and 1u power to 2.40. I have reseated all the components, replaced the ram with known working ram. i have now replaced the dc filter module. How do i find out what is wrong here? the server is configured to auto power up so when i put it in the enclosure it tries to power up for 1 second than goes off and the red health led comes up.... any other ideas?

I'm in Australia as well and I use a 3rd party company for the support on my blades. HP just never seem to have parts in stock and i needed to have MAX uptime on the servers. We've found with their service we don't have a need for a "redundant" server for all but 1 of our servers. They're a bit more expensive than HP carepack if you buy it with the server, but they don't get more expensive when it get's older. I've still got an proliant 1850R covered with them (it has to be 10 years old).

Let me know if you'd like details.
