Cisco 3020 Management and Errors Help

Hi everyone,

We are setting up our c7000 with the 2 Cisco 3020 switches both at latest firmware. 12.2(50)SE3

Part 1

We are setting up our c7000 with the 2 Cisco 3020 switches both at latest firmware.

I can access one switch through the management interface but the other switch I cannot configure properly. I think I am really close after reading the other posts. I believe it is something to do with fa0 and VLAN1 configuration.

The OA shows the proper IP but were unable to connect.

Perhaps someone has a walkthrough for configuring the interface. The guide on cisco site is not very good.

Part 2

We get the following errors on boot and while the switch is running:

*Mar 1 00:01:39.136: %SYS-4-CONFIG_RESOLVE_FAILURE: System config parse from (tftp://255.255.255.255/network-confg) failed
*Mar 1 00:02:17.153: %SYS-4-CONFIG_RESOLVE_FAILURE: System config parse from (tftp://255.255.255.255/cisconet.cfg) failed
*Mar 1 00:02:55.179: %SYS-4-CONFIG_RESOLVE_FAILURE: System config parse from (tftp://255.255.255.255/switch1-confg) failed
*Mar 1 00:03:25.185: %SYS-4-CONFIG_RESOLVE_FAILURE: System config parse from (tftp://255.255.255.255/network-confg) failed
*Mar 1 00:03:33.196: %SYS-4-CONFIG_RESOLVE_FAILURE: System config parse from (tftp://255.255.255.255/switch1.cfg) failed

Both the switches have these messages while running and it will probably be a configuration issue again.

Part 1

I managed to get this working. I was able to set an IP address on VLAN1 and remove the IP address from FastEthernet0 which got me to the config web page. From the config web page you can do a factory reset if you need to.

Part 2

You just use the following command in enable mode:

no service config

and I think you need to enter:

wr mem

If there is a good book to learning Cisco IOS basic settings I would like to know because it is quite challenging for someone who doesn't have training yet.
