thanks .. verified it.

Even if we add additional uplinks, the server will not automatically login to the new switch port.

Server will login to the new switch port, only after a reboot.

However, if we add the uplinks when the servers are ON, this will not create any issue, nor data loss.

Thx
Uday

when the c7000 enclosure is in production and if we add few more physcial uplinks (FC cables) to the currently running/configured VC FC modules, what will happen to the currently running servers, which are connected to SAN.

Does the HBA learn the new path automatically or does it requires a reboot to learn and login to the FC switch.

Note. Login distribution is dynamic and vc-fc modules are 4gbps with VC firmware ver. 2.01.

Environment includes both windows, linux and vmware esx.

It will distribute the logins to uplinks when a blade does a fabric login. You can also manually force distribution evenly to all uplinks from VC GUI. Or later VC firmwares it works =)

But HBA has nothing to do with it. VC decides the balancing.

Like I said
"It will distribute the logins to uplinks when a blade does a fabric login."

and blade does a fabric login when it boots. Or when FC driver is reloaded.
