Hi ,
we have a bl860c server with a 8 internal port sas controller. The server is having two 146 GB HDD which was supposed to be hardware mirrored. The server is running with hp-ux 11.31 OS.

we found that the HDDs are not mirrored (showing two HDDs in ioscan output). The servers are in production and we cannot afford a downtime now. is there any way to mirror (hardware mirror)these disks without losing data?. offer good points

Sajith.p.V

Hi,
I try many things but in fact I'm always not able to do this. When you do the sasmgr command, you init the disk on the raid.
http://forums13.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1291077
Without miror-UX, I really think it's not possible. If you have it and a third disk perhaps you could do it, transfering the system to the third disk and after that vgreduce the first disk, made the sasmgr and finally do the miror on the raid disk.
HtH
