What does' nimble 'event 12406 mean? Does it refer to the hard drive being used as a hot spare? The corresponding code for its meaning cannot be found in the manual

Nimble 'event 12406 refers to "Disk marked as spare" or "Disk %s is marked as spare"

I want to know if this refers to a hot spare disk, which means that when a hard drive fails, it automatically replaces the faulty disk. Can you understand it this way?

It would help me find the exact definition you need based on the alert you received.

I don't see any description other than "Disk marked as spare" or "Disk %s is marked as spare" for the Nimble 'event 12406

Thanks for sharing the alarm information with me. Based on the screenshot, it appears that the disk drive has been re-added. Ideally, the disk drive should remain in use and appear in the alarm information as "In Use

May I request you to share the output for the command "disk --list" to understand and help you with it?

I would suggest that you try removing the disk and re-inserting it. If you can't get it to work, then it is recommended that you replace the hard drive.

do I need to execute the disk remove command on the command line or just unplug the hard drive

In order to remove it, we will need to run the following command

The disk must be removed first before it can be added, you can do this by running the following commands

disk --remove <slot> --array <Array name> --shelf_location <shelflocation>

Use the following command to add the disk to your computer:
disk --add <slot> --array <Array name> --shelf_location <shelflocation>

If this does not resolve your problem, I recommend you raise a support ticket with HPE Nimble Tech support.
