topic Data Center Move in HPE Nimble Storage Solution Specialists

Hi Guys,

I have a DC move (Lift and shift) coming and I have to move my entire Nimble cluster to a new DC. I have 2X Head Shelfs and 2X Exp Shelfs. Is there any specific process to shut the units down besides going to "Administration - Shutdown"? Will I need to stop and replication since these units replicate to my DR Nimble units?

Hi TheeLaz,

1. Verify that your replication processes are up-to-date and your data is accurate. To avoid data inconsistencies, suspend or pause replication during the move.
2. Verify that your replication processes are up-to-date and your data is accurate. To avoid data inconsistencies, suspend or pause replication during the move.
3. You can gracefully shut down your Nimble units using the "Administration - Shutdown" feature. Usually, you should start with the secondary or replica units, if you have them. And, make sure all units are fully powered off.
4. Label all cables (like FC, SAS, and power cables)and connections to make reassembly easier.
5. Install your HPE Nimble cluster nodes on the racks, and ensure proper power connectivity.
6. Reconnect all the cables as per the labels, then power on your HPE Nimble cluster.
7. After all HPE Nimble units are powered on, verify that they are functioning correctly. Monitor replication and data consistency if you resume replication.
8. Update network configurations as needed to reflect the new data center's network settings.
9. Ensure that all systems, including replication, are working corrctly.

Note: Ensure you have a reliable backup of all your data before moving.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Satish
