FYI, you can download the OneView plugins at www.hpe.com/downloads/ovpartners

Hi all,

is there any way to export existing server profile templates from OneView, in order to import them in another environment, using always OneView?

Thank you so much

Graziano

HI Graziano ,

The server profile templates are specific to a particular Oneview appliance. hence exporting / Importing server profile template is not possible at this point

However i guess this feature will be added in the future and if it does , i reckon it would be done through the Oneview Global Dasboard

If you feel this was helpful please click the KUDOS! Thumbs below!

Regards

Ronny

Hey, 18 months have passed in the meantime, is there any possibility to share a server profile template from one oneview appliance with another, other than using https://github.com/HewlettPackard/POSH-HPEOneView and then do all the server-profile-template setups via scripts against each oneview instance?

edit: using the posh module might not even be an option right now, due to the lack of an import-resource.

I'm not sure if this would work for you, but there are a couple of workflows on the HPE OneView for vRealize Orchestrator plugin that can do something similar. It's not quite import/export of the server profiles, but you could maybe make it work.

One is called "Synchonize SPTs", which allows you to synchronize a Server Profile Template from another Server Profile Template (on the same OneView instance). This allows for a change to be made to a master SPT and then have that change rolled out to other child SPTs that have been derived from the master.

The other is called "Synchronize SPTs across OneViews" and synchronizes a Server Profile Template across instances of HPE OneViews.

Both of these provides the option to exclude/include different sections of the template, such as:

•Firmware

•Connections

•Local storage

•SAN storage

•Boot settings

•BIOS settings

•HPE iLO settings

•Advanced settings

•OS deployment settings

Even though this is done using the VMware VRO tool, the synchronization is indepent of the OS.

Hello Doug,

thanks for the hints, i'll give'em a try.

The strange thing is, I've contacted HPE Support in the meantime and asked for a solution and they basically said that this isn't possible right now and I should create an enhancment request.
