Hi, Morning.

We just had a customer transition and one of the devices that has been handed over to us is a HPE Oneview device that is running on OS version 4.2 (Pretty outdated it seems)

I'm looking to add this device to an SNMP manager so I can be aware of alerts from this device. Is that possible?

I added the OneView's management IP to the SNMP manager's GUI, and the GUI has tested "connectivity" to OneView's IP address, and there is connectivity however, it's giving an error when I try to "Test SNMP connection" on the SNMP manager's GUI. It is doing this test on SNMP port 161.

The error on the SNMP manager's GUI is "Cannot get System Description"

What could be the issue?

HPE OneView Appliance is an SNMP Receiver, and does not have an agent that can be "walked" or polled. If you are trying to pull out alerts from the appliance, your options are:

1. Email Notifications
2. REST API
3. Python or PowerShell scripts which interact with the appliance REST API
