I am once again stumped with this issue on my DL380 Gen 10 server that I am trying to update from my 8.70.x OV appliance. I am trying to update this server to the 2024.09.00.00 SPP that is loaded in my OV appliance. Should be no issues, done this a million times right!

I ran the SUT /DEPLOY command from an elevated CLI and I get the infamous "No action needed, firmware deployment request and iLO task queue both are empty." message. Meanwhile, the firmware status in OV simply states: Waiting for Smart Update Tools

I have tried upgrading the iLo firmware version, upgraded and downgraded the SUT version as well. This server is running Windows 2016. I feel pretty sure that has something to deal with this issue. Perhaps I need to run a very old SUT verson. I last tried SUT 4.2 since SUT 5.1 and 5.3 didn't work... Any suggestions community? Thanks in advance...

Greeshma,

Ironically, that post you referenced to me was actually my post on the forums from over 4 years ago. I have already tried changing the SUT SET mode to various settings and when I initiate the SUT /DEPLOY option, I am getting that same infamous error message. Quite fustrating... I have seen this issue many times, I make a dozen different changes and it eventually goes away. However, the exact change that makes SUT work again, is unknown. Can HPe assist and/or provide some suggestions???

Thanks in advance...

Scott

Have you tried to reset the ILO under Diagnostics? Otherwise, I'd suggest opening a support case. SUT uses the iLO CHIF interface, which is an unauthenticated method to the ILO. If you have enabled High Security Mode, then this interface enforces user authentication from any of the HPE OS tools, like SUT or AMS.
