Hi - hope you can help. I’ve recently taken on the management of a 2 node Simplivity setup which has a VCSA that’s hosted on separate infrastructure.

Can anyone advise on the impact of powering down the VCSA for a short maintenance period please?

Hi - just to clarify this question. What would be the impact on the Simplivity node / data availability if the VCSA is powered down for a period of maintenance? I assume that Simplivity will continue to function with no impact to the production environment.

Thanks!

Hi

Powering off\rebooting vCenter will not impact the running VMs but you will lose a degree of management. You will only be able to SSH into the OVCs using the svtcli user as vCenter is used to authenticate when logging in as administrator@vsphere.local

And obviously you won't be able to do any operations that use the vCenter plug-in

eg you'd need to shutdown the OVC's using command line (again using svtcli) should you need to do that whilst vCenter is offline.
