I've got a classic 308 Gen 10 stretch cluster, running SVT 3.7.8 and vSphere 6.7U1. SVTSP is 2019-0315.04.

Target is to get up to vSphere 7.0.3 and SVT4.1.2 with latest SVTSP.

As I've got a number or interim upgrades to do across all in stages, I've been looking at the latest 4.1.2 interop guide.

Current firmware lets me upgrade to 3.7.9 and maintain vSphere level at U1.

Once at 3.7.9 the newest firmware I can go to is 2019_0903.01. From here I can go to 4.0.1U1 and still keep vSphere as is or upgrade to the base U3 build.

However, the next stage presents a catch-22 situation according to the interop notes. The notes for ESXi build of 6.7U3 patch 1 (build 15160138) and higher, state a requirement for minimum firmware SVTSP-2020_0701.03. Confusingly, the notes for that firmware bundle state that the minumium patch level for the hosts is ESXi 6.7U3 patch 1.

What do we think should be done first? ESXi patch, or SVTSP?

Hi kerrplunk77

Hope you are doing well.

ESXi can be done first, followed immediately after firmware update.
ESXi vibs (vSphere Installation Bundles) will get updated following the reboot, after that the firmware is also upgraded.

Hope this helps.!!

Regards
Mahesh
