Simplivity storage upgrade

Hi, the storage upgrade process in a Simplivity node implies to redeploy the node so the data will be deleted. Is it possible to upgrade the storage without erasing all the data? Is there a method to upgrade de storage and preserve the data?

Hope you are doing well..!

Unfortunately for the redeployment, it's not possible to preserve data.
The only option, before redeploying is to stop any I/O /shutdown the VMs, then use remote backups to another cluster ( or to if any storeonce available) in the FED if any ( then restore once the nodes are redeployed) or move the VMs to that cluster using the SimpliVity move or using VMware Vstorage VMotion , mounting the DS from another cluster, not SimpliVity.

Thank you, I've another question, the cluster have two simplivity nodes, I'll move all the vms to one node and then redeploy the second node (one node has the enough resources to support all vms), is it possible?

Hi javier

If it's a 2 node cluster..it would have all the storage resources necessary, as the replica for each VM should be on both nodes.
however, it would be up to. if you could see If 1 single host can run all of their VM's from a single host per CPU and Memory resources available.
