Instead of having VMware write simplivity backups to the other storeonce in the other Datacenter, maybe it would be better to just setup the StoreOnce to replicate those backups to the other HPE Storeonce? Is this something that can be done fairly easily?

Hello,

Currently have 2 Datacenters each with a StoreOnce Device. I can backup VM's to StoreOnce in each DataCenter without issue either manually and or using a backup Policy. To make this clear, Datacenter 1 can copy VM's to StoreOnce in Datacenter 1 no issue. Datacenter 2 can copy VM's to StoreOnce in Datacenter 2 no issues.

What I would like to do for more redundancy and DR is be able to manual create backup and also policy backups from Datcenter 1 to Datacenter 2 StoreOnce and Vice Versa. I do not have the option however as I cannot see the external store when doing a manual backup using simplivity in GUI as it only sees the StoreOnce in that Datacenter/VMware Cluster not the other one in the other Cluster/Datacenter.

When creating a policy it does show it there as an option but what happens is it fails to backup to the remote StoreOnce Device. Does anyone know how this can work? Using Vsphere 7.0.3 with Simplivity version 4.1.2.185.

Hi jfer2022,

Storeonce backups works with the cluster they are registered to. There are a few guidelines to be followed when you have multiple clusters registered to StoreOnce.
Please refer to page 76 onwards for more details: https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docLocale=en_US&docId=a00131388en_us

Hi jfer2022,

While you can run like copy jobs to replicate the backups, since I have never tested this out personally, I can't confirm if this will actually work.
I'd recommend you to open a support ticket regarding the same.
