Hello,

i've a problem wth FLR for the VM (Windows 2022 file serveur)

VM has 3 virtual disks:

1 system 80GB no dynamic

2 File share 100GB no dynamic

3 File share 850GB no dynamic

The 3d disk was clonned from previsius VM File server (Win2012).

And now when i want to make a FLR i've this error: Error getting partition list when I develop the partition list for 3d disk.

The 1st et 2nd disk are ok, and i can list the partition and folders.

The VM is backed up by Veeam daily.

The HPE Support tels that this error is caused by CBT (chang block tracking) and there is no solution, and I need disable CBT if I want use the FLR from Simplivity backups.

I made the tests: I restored entire VM. After first Simplivity backup I could restore FLR. But after the first Veeam backup (CBT activated by Veeam on the fly) the FLR no longer worked for Simplivity backups.

A can't understant, why for some virtual disk in the same VM the FLR works, and for some disk is not?

the zeus script did not find any anomalies for this VM.

Hi @Major88

This error can be caused by any of the following:

1. It may be due to the presence of VMware snapshots on the VM.
2. If you have not tried FLR prior, its worth checking if the filesystem is supported. The admin guide for the release you are on should list the supported partition types.
3. If you are trying to do file level restore on a remote backup, you might get this error.

As you already mentioned, try to disable CBT for the virtual machine by setting the ctkEnabled value to false. It might be caused when CTK option is enabled for the Virtual Machines.
Disable CBT for the individual virtual disks attached to the virtual machine by setting the scsix:x.ctkEnabled value for each attached virtual disk to false.
where scsix:x is SCSI controller and SCSI device ID of your virtual disk.

For more details on this, you may refer to the below link:
https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2139574

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Sanika.

If you feel this was helpful, please click the KUDOS thumb below.
