topic Backup an Restore Simplivity VM in HPE SimpliVity

Hello community, could you please help me with this question?

I have 2 Sites, each with a Vmware-Simplivity Cluster, and each site has 2 nodes. Both sites are part of the same federation. Additionally, I have cross-backup policies, meaning that some VMs from Site1 are backed up on Site2 and vice versa.

When I search for backups in Site2 to validate the functionality of the backup policies, I can find backups of VMs from Site1 and vice versa.

However, when I physically search in the DataStorage of Site2 for a VM from Site1, I don’t find a folder containing that VM, unlike what I can see in VMware SRM (just for comparison).

So, my question is, if Site1 completely fails, how can I recover a VM from Site1 on Site2 if I don’t have access to the physical files of the VM from Site1? I know from the backup policies that I can perform a search backup for a VM from Site1 on Site2 and select "Restore Virtual Machine," but do I need access to the DataStorage of Site1 to be able to restore a VM on Site2?

In the remote site you won't see the VM folders. Once you search for the backup and restore, a new VM folder will be created.
