Hi @cnelson1277

In my opinion, disabling SimpliVity's Autobalance/Resource Balancer can be challenging and keeping control over the placement of primary and secondary copies can be tricky.

Ensure the command "dsv-balance-disable" is executed correctly on the OVC. This command disables resource balancing functionality on an HPE OmniStack host.
After running the command, verify that resource balancer is disabled by running the following commands:
1. dsv-balance-show: This command is used to display the current state of resource balancing service
2. dsv-balance-show -- status: This command displays the status of Resource Balancing service. This option displays whether the resource balancing functionality is enabled or disabled.
3. dsv-balance-show --autobalancers: This command displays the status of individual active balancer.

You may go through the logs as well to get the details about overall status of the resource balancer.

If you still experience the issue, you may contact HPE Support and provide them with detailed logs. I understand you have been working with them from quite long time but there could be deeper configuration settings or bugs that require a patch or manual intervention from them.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Sanika.

If you feel this was helpful, please click the KUDOS thumb below.
Disable Simplivity AutoBalancing

I am trying to disable the Simplivity autobalancing but am not having any luck. I have been working with support for nearly a month now without sucess.

We have a 4 node cluster.

We have ran all the commands listed on this site here:

https://community.hpe.com/t5/around-the-storage-block/how-vm-data-is-managed-within-an-hpe-simplivity-cluster-part-3/ba-p/7033153#.X6VeaixxdPa

DSV-Balance-Disable

SVT-IWO-Disable

I currently have HA and DRS turned off while I try and resolve this, so DRS isn't a factor at the moment.

When I go into the OVC and run DSV-Balance-Manual, I can move around the primary and secondary locations. One of my VM's is so large it takes 18+ hours to move. Whenever I go back and check it after it is moved and I run dsv-hive-migration-show, I can see the secondary copy is moving back to where I don't want it to be.

This has been going around and around in circles and I want to get this resolved. Does anyone know of a way to disable the Simpivity AutoBalance that has worked for them? I want to keep my primary and secondary copies on the nodes of my choosing.
