topic Power failure has blown 5412zl switch chassis and/or management module? in HPE Aruba Networking & ProVision-based

Hi,

Yesterday we had a power supply failure due to a generator fault in one of our buildings. When the power supply returned we found that our 5412zl was failing to boot. The power, fault and trace lights were all lit but the switch seemed to be stuck in a boot cycle. We removed all cards from the chassis apart from the management module then power-cycled the switch again. Still nothing. We then swapped out the management module with another known good one and the switch finally booted. Via the console port we logged in and got to the default-config prompt. We tried copying a backup config via usb to the switch but nothing was copied over even though the switch didn't complain about the backup file. Does this mean that the chassis itself has failed or does this mean that the original management module was faulty too?

Switch details:

Model: 5412zl

Modules present: J8726A Management module

Firmware version: K15.02.0005

Please let me know if you require any further information,

Simon

Hi,

Regarding configuration restore, can you try to copy paste the file contain directly through a Console or Telnet/SSSH session ?

We have had many issues in the past with restore configuration, i don't think that your chassis itself is break.

Bye.
